31 Heroes Member Jesse Pittman Memorial 5K Run/Walk On July 6, 2013!

Jesse Pittman was on the Chinook helicopter when it was shot down by enemy insurgents on August 6, 2011. Jesse was with a group of 31 Heroes that were on their way to help pinned down Marines.

To keep his memory alive and well his family has created the Jesse Pittman Memorial Fund which offers a college scholarship to Mendocino County High School students. This run will help fund this scholarship.

The 5K run/walk will be held on July 6, 2013 from 7:30 to 10:30am in the Kyen Recreation Area at Lake Mendocino in Ukiah, California.

The cost to enter is just $35 and all ages are welcome. Click here to register.

In Honor Of 31 Heroes Member Jonas Kelsall, The Jonas Project Helping Veterans With A Dream

On August 6, 2011 in Afghanistan, 31 Heroes were taken from us when the Chinook helicopter they were on was shot down by enemy insurgents. They were on their way to back up some Marines that were pinned down.

Families of these brave warriors are finding ways to honor their memories. Many are doing memorial runs and walks, creating scholarship funds in their honor, and a few are raising money to build memorials.

Lt. Commander Jonas B. Kelsall was one of the 31 Heroes that was KIA on August 6, 2011. To honor his memory his family has created The Jonas Project.

The Jonas Project is a 501(c)(3) non-profit giving back to those Veterans who have served our country with honor. It is for those Veterans, who have an entrepreneurial spirit, and the determination to succeed at their dream, that The Jonas Project was born.

It’s mission is to grow Veteran owned business opportunities through collaboration, not duplication.

The Jonas Project is collaborating with partners throughout the community, city and state to provide financial assistance and support for those Veterans who return home with a new vision for their lives – being an entrepreneur.

31 Heroes 2nd Annual Aaron Vaughn Memorial Frogman Swim!

Another one of our 31 Heroes members is having a fundraising event this summer as the 2nd anniversary of this tragic event comes upon us. The 31 Heroes included 25 special operations members, 5 air crew, and 1 military working dog that were taken from America when the Chinook helicopter they were on was shot down by enemy insurgents in Afghanistan on August 6, 2011.

The 2nd Annual Aaron Vaughn Memorial Frogman Swim will take place in Jensen Beach, Florida on June 29, 2013. This event will help raise money for the Operation 300 camp. The event is a little different as it features swimming events…a 1K open water swim, 5K open water swim, and a 200-yard open water swim.

If you are in or near the Florida area please check out this amazing event in honor of one of America’s finest. If you can’t attend the event they could still use a donation to benfit the Operation 300 camp.

31 Heroes Members John Douangdara & Bart Statue Unveiling On May 27, 2013!

31 Heroes members John (Jet Li) Douangdara and his military working dog Bart are getting a statue that will be placed in the military war dog park in John’s hometown of Omaha, Nebraska.

John and Bart were part of Extortion 17. They were on board a Chinook helicopter when it was shot down by enemy insurgents in Afghanistan on August 6, 2011.

The statue unveiling will take place on May 27, 2013 in the Memorial War Dog Park at Siouxland Freedom Park in Omaha, Nebraska.
